2020-04-05 Chosen to be Set Apart – David Baxley
"We focus so much on trying to be comfortable and preventing suffering, that it becomes our goal and our idol instead of our focus and our heart being on God and His glory, His will, His work in our lives, His plans, even if it means suffering."

This week, Pastor David Baxley continues our series going through 1 Peter, taking us into chapter 4, verses 12-19, which focuses on how we as believers should expect to suffer as Christ did.

"Our City needs us, our country needs us, our world needs us, because we have something that should radically transform how we respond to this. It can't radically fix the virus, but it can transform how they see it and how they respond to that."

Pastor David Baxley continues our series, Chosen To Be Set Apart, taking us through the book of 1 Peter. This week, we focused on Chapter 4, verses 7-11, which deals with love, serving one another, with what God has given us, and true hospitality.

"I am called by God's specific design to be one with my wife, and she is called by her specific design to be one with me. This is what sets marriage apart. This is where we begin to recognize that this is a sacred relationship that God joins together."

Pastor David Baxley dives into the second sermon on 1 Peter 3:1-7, which focuses on husbands and wives, and how God is calling them to be set apart from all others.

"The beauty and sacredness of marriage means that as we give ourselves more to that person, as the two become one flesh, when that oneness is violated, when that oneness is robbed, when that oneness is hurt, that hurts us like nothing else does. God wants us to recognize that in light of the hurt, we can get this painfully wrong."

Pastor David Baxley continues us through our series "Chosen to be Set Apart" going through the book of 1 Peter. This week, we started going through 1 Peter 3:1-7 by giving important context to the verses, and we continue next week by diving in deeper with that context in mind.

2020-02-16 Chosen to be Set Apart – A Chosen Identity – David Baxley
"Living set apart is not just about not sinning. That's the beginning of living set apart. Living set apart is not just about abstaining from what he's called us not to do, it's also about what we do to reflect our new identity, to reflect what he's done, to reflect the fact that the Holy Spirit is alive within us!"

Pastor David Baxley continues our series in 1 Peter on what identities God gives us as his followers, and what our response should be.

2020-02-02 Chosen to be Set Apart – Chosen to Obey God – David Baxley
"God wants us to see that not only did he pay the ransom for us, but that before we were ever created, God knew we would rebel, he knew we would run away from our Father, he knew we would resist the calling he has on our lives. Before he ever created us, he said 'Jesus, I choose you to be the one that's going to eventually pay the ransom, in your blood, so they can be restored to relationship with me.' And Jesus willingly submitted to the plan of the Father."

Pastor David Baxley preaches to us from Gods Word on what it means to be set apart to obey God.

2020-01-26 Chosen to be Set Apart – Chosen to Love God – David Baxley
"Obedience does not prove love, because what that means is that we are trying to obey God out of ourselves, instead of what God is doing in us. Instead, Jesus is saying 'Those that love me, those that know me, out of that knowledge of me, and as they know me and as they love me, overflows and intimacy with me and a desire to want to obey me.'"

Pastor David Baxley shows us what God's word says about being chosen to love God, and how that looks.

"We can all look good on the outside, but we can never fool God. We can never fool God because he knows our hearts; he knows what's there. He knows what's going on inside of us, and we have to begin in full submission and surrender to God's work in our lives for his transformational power." Pastor David Baxley gives us a New Years message on what God tells us about being truly transformed by Him.

    Series: Expectancy
"It was just about the baby. At that moment, there was nothing that Jesus was offering them (the Wisemen), and yet they came to worship Him. They came to worship him just because they knew he was worthy. Because they knew who he was. They knew he was the King of Kings."

Pastor David Baxley set us up for Christmas Eve by taking us through the story of how the wise men responded to the birth of Jesus, and what we can learn from them.

2019-12-08 Made for More: Radical Generosity – David Baxley
"We are blessed by God to bless others. As we get to see that, we begin to realize this truth that everything we have God gave to us for a reason that's bigger than ourselves. It's much bigger than who we are. Much bigger than the blessing it is for us or the comfort it provides for us. It's something that's about his kingdom. Something about his glory. Something about what he wants to accomplish"

Pastor David Baxley preaches to us from God's word on what it looks like to have radical generosity in every part of our lives.

"When we bring our gifts together, and we begin to serve each other, when we begin to love each other even through our struggles, our weaknesses, our insecurities, our brokenness, our pain, and we still our unified, and we suffer with those that are suffering, and we rejoice with one that is honored, they see something unique and powerful that only happens because the Holy Spirit is in us and working." Pastor David Baxley shows us what God's word has to say about Spiritual Gifts, and how we can use them in a unified body for the good of the Gospel.

2019-11-17 Made for More: Made with Purpose Pt. 1 – David Baxley
"Fear actually makes us begin to live like fools. We begin to indulge ourselves and what we want instead of the life that God has for us. It deceives us into missing what Jesus is sitting there offering us. Remember: He gave us exactly what we needed, exactly for what He created us for, and to do. None of us are lacking what God gave us to do what he's asking of us, and what He created us for, and any belief of that is just a lie of Satan to rob us of the life that we're meant to have to the fullest."

Pastor David Baxley shows us what God says about our purpose and giftings, and what the rewards or consequences are of how we live according to them.

Made for More: The Real World – David Baxley
"I don’t think we will ever be able to fully understand how the spiritual world is and how it affects our physical world during our life on earth. But, for us this morning, it just needs to start with us seeing that there is more than our physical world. Seeing in faith, that we were made for more, we were made for the Spiritual world." Pastor David Baxley walks us through how God calls us to view our world as not only physical but even more so, spiritual.

"God created something in us that is longing for something more. We search to know truth. We are desperate to find hope. I think we are all longing for something more than the life we have can ever give. But are we willing to come to God to ask 'What do you desire from me, Jesus?'” Pastor David starts our new series called "Made for More" this week, and starts by addressing what Jesus is really seeking from his followers.

    Series: devoted.
"God says 'look at all that I care for, take care of, and do; not just for you but all of creation. Remember what I have already done for you, my child. I saved your soul, I gave you a new life.' He tells us we are his, and he will take care of us. He has got this. So then we have to ask ourselves if we really trust the words of God, and his direction for how to live with money and his promises to us."

Pastor David Baxley brings us truth from God's Word on what he says about giving, and how the Church in Acts 2 radically devoted themselves to giving.

2019-09-29 Devoted to Awe – David Baxley
    Series: devoted.
"As we see God, know God more, and love God more, we have an awe for him; A fear of knowing holiness of God and his call for us. A call to live up to that standard, the work he started in us to honor him, and to live for him with our lives that he died and paid for with his blood. But also there is a reasonable fear that comes in knowing that God has given us the call to holiness because the power of sin is destructive. Even as believers, when we hold on to sin the consequences of it are painful. God knows that the great calling he has for us is to run from sin and toward him. So, part of fearing God is seeing the true destructive power of sin if we choose to stay away from God’s call to live in Awe of him."
Pastor David Baxley speaks to us from God's Word on the challenging topic of what it means to have a fear, or awe, of God.

"We Need Fellowship. We need what this church in Acts had. Something that's bigger than sunday morning, but a church community and family that is devoted not just to teaching and the Bible but to each other and loving each other the way God calls us to." Pastor David Baxley continues our series on what the example the early Church set for us on what it means to be truly "devoted". This week, we focus on what it means to be "devoted to fellowship", and how that practically applies to our lives today. "What are we devoted to that draws us here each week? Is it the work of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and His Word? Or, is it something else. Is it a person, a style, a tradition, a duty? Where does our devotion really lie? Let it never be who is preaching, who is leading worship, what the topic is or if we think its the sermon is too simple or too deep." Pastor David Baxley opens up our new series "Devoted" on what being a devoted Christian meant in the early church, and how we can apply that today. This week we specifically focus on what it meant to be "devoted to the teaching of the Apostles".

    Series: He Is...
Being a Child of God, a Christian, is not a natural condition that has occurred in your life. If you have surrendered your life to follow Jesus; it is a supernatural condition. Therefore, to continue to live in this new life God has given us requires Supernatural living that can only come through the supernatural, the Holy Spirit. As He indwells you as a believer He empowers us, equips us, and guides us to the supernatural life God called us to. Pastor David Baxley stands behind the pulpit this morning to speak to us from God's word on the Holy Spirit, and the supernatural power we should look for when we interact with him as believers.
