"Joy isn't happiness. Happiness is based on what is happening. It's based on circumstances. The thing is, happiness is not a bad thing. It's not like happiness is somehow the sinful version of joy. But joy is what we find in the middle of all circumstances."

Pastor David Baxley starts out our new series called "JoyFull" taking us through the book of Philippians this summer.

5-17-20 Through The Valley – Psalm 23 – David Baxley
"Even as he (King David) was going through the dark valley, he could say with confidence that it wasn't by accident because the shepherd had led him there. He doesn't have to carry on his own shoulders how he got there, or what he needs to do to fix the situation, or what he needs to do to correct it and change it. He doesn't have to try to take control of it. He knows the shepherd led him there, and the shepherd will lead him out."

Pastor David begins our mini-series in the Psalms by starting us arguably the most well-known psalm: Psalm 23.

"God has absolute authority and dominion over it all, and he's reminding us of that truth right now to come back to that. God's got this! If you want to trust in God's promises, you need to look no further than to realize that as the creator God, he has absolute authority."

Pastor David Baxley wraps up our series going through 1 Peter by taking us through some of what God promises, and why we need to trust those promises and the one who makes them. Join us next week as we start our new mini-series called "Through The Valley" that takes us through some of the Psalms.

2020-05-03 Chosen to be Set Apart – Chosen to Resist – David Baxley
"When we begin to suffer, our minds become the battleground for discouragement and lies. That's when the enemy wants to come in: when we are discouraged, when we might be weak, or when we might be going through something, even if it's something where God is working and doing something in our lives, which he promises he is, the enemy still sees our vulnerability, and he comes in."

Pastor David Baxley takes us deeper into chapter 5 of 1 Peter; this week going into what it means to be sober-minded and alert to our enemy.

"We focus so much on trying to be comfortable and preventing suffering, that it becomes our goal and our idol instead of our focus and our heart being on God and His glory, His will, His work in our lives, His plans, even if it means suffering."

This week, Pastor David Baxley continues our series going through 1 Peter, taking us into chapter 4, verses 12-19, which focuses on how we as believers should expect to suffer as Christ did.

"Our City needs us, our country needs us, our world needs us, because we have something that should radically transform how we respond to this. It can't radically fix the virus, but it can transform how they see it and how they respond to that."

Pastor David Baxley continues our series, Chosen To Be Set Apart, taking us through the book of 1 Peter. This week, we focused on Chapter 4, verses 7-11, which deals with love, serving one another, with what God has given us, and true hospitality.

"I am called by God's specific design to be one with my wife, and she is called by her specific design to be one with me. This is what sets marriage apart. This is where we begin to recognize that this is a sacred relationship that God joins together."

Pastor David Baxley dives into the second sermon on 1 Peter 3:1-7, which focuses on husbands and wives, and how God is calling them to be set apart from all others.

"The beauty and sacredness of marriage means that as we give ourselves more to that person, as the two become one flesh, when that oneness is violated, when that oneness is robbed, when that oneness is hurt, that hurts us like nothing else does. God wants us to recognize that in light of the hurt, we can get this painfully wrong."

Pastor David Baxley continues us through our series "Chosen to be Set Apart" going through the book of 1 Peter. This week, we started going through 1 Peter 3:1-7 by giving important context to the verses, and we continue next week by diving in deeper with that context in mind.

2020-02-16 Chosen to be Set Apart – A Chosen Identity – David Baxley
"Living set apart is not just about not sinning. That's the beginning of living set apart. Living set apart is not just about abstaining from what he's called us not to do, it's also about what we do to reflect our new identity, to reflect what he's done, to reflect the fact that the Holy Spirit is alive within us!"

Pastor David Baxley continues our series in 1 Peter on what identities God gives us as his followers, and what our response should be.

2020-02-02 Chosen to be Set Apart – Chosen to Obey God – David Baxley
"God wants us to see that not only did he pay the ransom for us, but that before we were ever created, God knew we would rebel, he knew we would run away from our Father, he knew we would resist the calling he has on our lives. Before he ever created us, he said 'Jesus, I choose you to be the one that's going to eventually pay the ransom, in your blood, so they can be restored to relationship with me.' And Jesus willingly submitted to the plan of the Father."

Pastor David Baxley preaches to us from Gods Word on what it means to be set apart to obey God.

2020-01-26 Chosen to be Set Apart – Chosen to Love God – David Baxley
"Obedience does not prove love, because what that means is that we are trying to obey God out of ourselves, instead of what God is doing in us. Instead, Jesus is saying 'Those that love me, those that know me, out of that knowledge of me, and as they know me and as they love me, overflows and intimacy with me and a desire to want to obey me.'"

Pastor David Baxley shows us what God's word says about being chosen to love God, and how that looks.

"We can all look good on the outside, but we can never fool God. We can never fool God because he knows our hearts; he knows what's there. He knows what's going on inside of us, and we have to begin in full submission and surrender to God's work in our lives for his transformational power." Pastor David Baxley gives us a New Years message on what God tells us about being truly transformed by Him.

"It was just about the baby. At that moment, there was nothing that Jesus was offering them (the Wisemen), and yet they came to worship Him. They came to worship him just because they knew he was worthy. Because they knew who he was. They knew he was the King of Kings."

Pastor David Baxley set us up for Christmas Eve by taking us through the story of how the wise men responded to the birth of Jesus, and what we can learn from them.

2019-12-08 Made for More: Radical Generosity – David Baxley
"We are blessed by God to bless others. As we get to see that, we begin to realize this truth that everything we have God gave to us for a reason that's bigger than ourselves. It's much bigger than who we are. Much bigger than the blessing it is for us or the comfort it provides for us. It's something that's about his kingdom. Something about his glory. Something about what he wants to accomplish"

Pastor David Baxley preaches to us from God's word on what it looks like to have radical generosity in every part of our lives.

"When we bring our gifts together, and we begin to serve each other, when we begin to love each other even through our struggles, our weaknesses, our insecurities, our brokenness, our pain, and we still our unified, and we suffer with those that are suffering, and we rejoice with one that is honored, they see something unique and powerful that only happens because the Holy Spirit is in us and working." Pastor David Baxley shows us what God's word has to say about Spiritual Gifts, and how we can use them in a unified body for the good of the Gospel.

"Fear actually makes us begin to live like fools. We begin to indulge ourselves and what we want instead of the life that God has for us. It deceives us into missing what Jesus is sitting there offering us. Remember: He gave us exactly what we needed, exactly for what He created us for, and to do. None of us are lacking what God gave us to do what he's asking of us, and what He created us for, and any belief of that is just a lie of Satan to rob us of the life that we're meant to have to the fullest."

Pastor David Baxley shows us what God says about our purpose and giftings, and what the rewards or consequences are of how we live according to them.

Made for More: The Real World – David Baxley
"I don’t think we will ever be able to fully understand how the spiritual world is and how it affects our physical world during our life on earth. But, for us this morning, it just needs to start with us seeing that there is more than our physical world. Seeing in faith, that we were made for more, we were made for the Spiritual world." Pastor David Baxley walks us through how God calls us to view our world as not only physical but even more so, spiritual.

"God created something in us that is longing for something more. We search to know truth. We are desperate to find hope. I think we are all longing for something more than the life we have can ever give. But are we willing to come to God to ask 'What do you desire from me, Jesus?'” Pastor David starts our new series called "Made for More" this week, and starts by addressing what Jesus is really seeking from his followers.

    Series: devoted.
"God says 'look at all that I care for, take care of, and do; not just for you but all of creation. Remember what I have already done for you, my child. I saved your soul, I gave you a new life.' He tells us we are his, and he will take care of us. He has got this. So then we have to ask ourselves if we really trust the words of God, and his direction for how to live with money and his promises to us."

Pastor David Baxley brings us truth from God's Word on what he says about giving, and how the Church in Acts 2 radically devoted themselves to giving.
